Privacy policy
How TradeCareers.ca collects, uses and protects your personal information. Effective October 26, 2026.
Who we are
TradeCareers.ca is an independent, Canadian information resource for people working in or moving into the skilled trades. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, where it is stored, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We follow the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through our forms:
- Contact form and waitlist requests — your name, email address, the topic you pick, your province or territory (optional) and your message.
- Newsletter and job alerts — your email address and which signup form you used.
- Employer job posts — company name, contact name, email, phone (optional), and the job details you enter, including the pay range and location.
- Resume questionnaire (when the resume service is open) — your answers, which can include contact details, work history, tickets and certifications, education, references you choose to list, and any resume or document you upload.
We do not ask for your Social Insurance Number, date of birth, banking details or other sensitive identifiers, and we ask you not to include them in a form or upload. Our forms include a hidden anti-spam field; it does not collect anything about you.
Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It is cookie-free: it does not set cookies or use local storage, and it gives us aggregate statistics only (such as page views, referring sites, country and browser type). We cannot identify you from it.
Why we collect it
- To answer your message or add you to a waitlist you asked to join.
- To send the newsletter and job alerts you signed up for.
- To review, follow up on and (if accepted) publish employer job posts.
- To prepare the resume and cover letter you ordered, when that service is open.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful so we can improve the site.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose you have not been told about without asking you first.
Where your information is stored
Our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., in the United States. When you submit a form, the submission (including any uploaded file) is stored in our Netlify account and a copy is emailed to us at info@tradecareers.ca. Because these services are in the United States, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there under U.S. law.
Visitor statistics are processed by Cloudflare, Inc. as described above.
Cookies and affiliate links
TradeCareers.ca itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our Books & Tools page links to Amazon.ca through the Amazon Associates program. If you click one of those links, you leave our site and Amazon may set its own cookies to record that you came from us; that is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not this policy. We earn a small commission from qualifying purchases and never see what you buy or any of your Amazon account details.
Job listings on our board link to the original posting on Job Bank (Government of Canada). Those pages are governed by their own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages and waitlist requests: up to 24 months after our last exchange with you, then deleted.
- Newsletter and job alerts: until you unsubscribe; your address is then removed from our list within 30 days.
- Employer job posts: up to 24 months after the posting closes.
- Resume questionnaire answers and uploaded resumes: up to 12 months after your final files are delivered (so we can handle revisions), then deleted. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
We may keep information longer only where the law requires it (for example, basic tax records for paid services).
Your choices: access, correction and deletion
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email info@tradecareers.ca from the address you used and tell us what you need. We will respond within 30 days.
Unsubscribing: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or job-alert email, or email us with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
How we protect it
Access to form submissions is limited to the people who run TradeCareers.ca, The site is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so please do not send us more than a form asks for.
Young people
Our content is written for youth and adults exploring the trades. Our forms are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date below and, for significant changes, post a notice on the site. Effective date: October 26, 2026.
